A walking tour of the Antrim Causeway Coast, taking you on a trek through country that is magnificently beautiful, and along one of the most sensational shores in Europe. Explore peaceful country villages, towns, Dunluce Castle, and the Giant’s Causeway.
Itinerary
DAY 1 ARRIVAL/BALLYCASTLE
Your tour begins in the rural coastal town of Ballycastle; located on the north-eastern tip of County Antrim. Your best airport to come into is Belfast of Dublin, we will supply you with all the travel details required to get to Ballycastle.
DAY 2 BALLYCASTLE TO BALLINTOY Distance: 14 km, Ascent: 110 m, walking time: 4 hrs
After leaving Ballycastle, you will follow a country road to Clare Woods. Walking a short forest trail will take you through the farming town of Craignagolman and Ballaghcravey; then to the world famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. This is an unbelievable place if you are adventurous enough to cross the 80ft rope bridge; but it is a choice. If you would like to cross there is a £7 charge for the adventure!
DAY 3 BALLINTOY TO THE GIANT’S CAUSEWAY Distance: 17.6 km, Ascent: 100 m, walking time: 5 hrs
Today offers you an breathtaking lineup wildlife and plant life. This trail crosses along the rich sandy beach of White Park Bay; past the ruins of Dunseverick Castles and follows a cliff top path that takes you by Benbane Head to the World Heritage Site and Nature Reserve of the Giants Causeway. After exploring the Giants Causeway your trail goes along Bushfoot Strand to the town of Portballintra for your overnight stay.
DAY 4 GIANT’S CAUSEWAY TO PORTSTEWART Distance: 19 km Ascent: 80 m walking time: 5.5 hrs
The last day of walking takes you along the coastal road to the incredable views from Portrush, before the short descent to Curran Strand. Here you have some captivating views over a series of small islands that lie north of the strand. Then it’s into the town of Portrush to do a little exploring and some shopping before the final leg of your journey into Portstewart. This is a gorgeous part of the trail and an ideal finish to what is sure to have been a perfect week.
DAY 5 DEPART
After a nice breakfast you will start your journey home.
