Ireland – Kerry Way – 6 Day – Independent Walking Tour


Kerry Way is Ireland’s longest way marked walking trails. From this we have chosen 73 km along one of the nicest hiking trails in Ireland. As you hike the Kerry Way you will experience small market towns and charming villages, old country roads and trails, castles and traditional farms.



Travel by public transport to Glenbeigh, the start of your Kerry Way Tour.

DAY 2 GLENBEIGH TO CAHIRCIVEEN Distance: 23 km, Ascent: 300 m, Walking time: 6.5 hrs

Walk out of the village across the river Behy and up through Behy Forest to meet an old rail track. This trail passes the incredible Rosbeigh Beach with brilliant views over Dingle Bay, before walking through the Foilmore valley overlooked by the impressive Knocknadobar.

DAY 3 CAHIRCIVEEN TO WATERVILLE Distance: 25km, Ascent: 350m, Walking time: 7 hrs

The trail passes through turf bogs and pine forest. Some short ascents give sight over Valentia Island and the western end of the peninsula. This may be a long day but the views make it worth it. You finish in the bustling and spirited village of Waterville.

DAY 4 WATERVILLE TO CAHERDANIEL Distance: 15 km, Ascent: 200 m, Walking time: 4 hrs

Today you are doing a amaxingly panoramic route along the shore. Time allows you to take a detour at Derrynane to visit Derrynane House and gardens. This is the home of Daniel O’Connell, the father of Catholic Emancipation during the 1800’s.

DAY 5 CAHERDANIEL TO SNEEM Distance: 19 km, Ascent: 350 m, Walking time: 5.5 hrs

The trail climbs on the foothills of Eagle Hill and a short detour will take you to the 3rd century stone built Staigue Fort, one of the largest and finest ring forts you are likely to see in Ireland. Following rocky paths through sheep country to the village of Sneem.


Your tour ends in Sneem where public transportation will take you to the airport.
