Ireland – Wicklow Way – 6 Day – Independent Walking Holiday

 

The Wicklow Way, also known as “The Garden of Ireland”, is Ireland’s oldest waymarked walking trail. It displays some of Ireland’s most pleasant views including Powerscourt Waterfall, Luggala, Loch Dan, Glenmalure and historical Glendalough. The Wicklow Way walking trail extends from Marlay Park in Dublin to Clonegal on the borders of Wicklow and Carlow. We offer a number of tours on the Wicklow Way for all types of outdoor and fitness fanatic.


Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVE RATHDRUM

Arrive at Dublin Airport and take the train to Rathdrum where you will stay the first night.

DAY 2 GLENMALURE TO GLENDALOUGH Distance: 14 km, Ascent: 450 m, Walking time: 4 hrs

Your first day takes you out of Glenmalure Valley. The trail crosses the side of Mullacor Mountain and continues into the valley of Glendalough. Glendalough is known for its 6th Century Monastic Settlement and astonishing in its beauty. Stay overnight in Laragh.

DAY 3 GLENDALOUGH TO ROUNDWOOD Distance: 12 km, Ascent: 250 m, Walking time: 3.5 hrs

This walk is rewarding with its sensational landscape. Now you have the option to extend your self-guided walk by taking in Scarr Mountain or enjoying a less strenuous walk around one of the Roundwood Reservoirs. Tonight you will stay in Roundwood.

DAY 4 ROUNDWOOD TO ENNISKERRY  Distance: 18 km, Ascent: 600 m, Walking time: 5 hours

You will walk over the side of Djouce Mountain and along the Powerscourt Estate, where there are great views over Powerscourt Waterfall, Ireland’s longest waterfall. Tonight you’ll stay in Enniskerry Wicklow’s delightful villages.

DAY 5 ENNISKERRY TO MARLAY PARK Distance: 17 km, Ascent: 150 m, Walking time: 5 hours

The final section of the Wicklow Way takes you over Prince William’s Seat where there are striking views over Dublin, the Irish Sea and back to the Wicklow mountains. Your trip ends on a trail that leads into Marlay Park. Your last night is spent in Dublin.

DAY 6 DEPART

Leave Dublin for your journey home.
