Scotland – West Highland Way – Self-Guided Walking Tour – 6 Day


This tour takes you on the West Highland Way from the outskirts of Glasgow through the Highlands to Tyndrum. The West Highland Way is an adventure through some of the most beautiful country in Scotland.



You can arrive at Glasgow main airport or Prestwick. From Glasgow you will take the train to Milngavie where your walking tour of Scotland begins.

DAY 2 MILNGAVIE TO DRYMEN Distance: 19.5 km, Ascent: 200 m, Walking time: 5.5 hrs

This trail follows old railway lines, country tracks and lanes, offering you some remarkable scenery as your first see the Scottish Mountains. If you are lucky you may even see some Roe Deer, Kestrel or Red Kite.

DAY 3 DRYMEN TO ROWARDENNAN Distance: 22.5 km, Ascent: 345 m, Walking time: 6.5 hrs

This trail takes you through Garadhban Forest and across the side of Conic Hill, which overlooks the village of Balmaha, you also get your first glance of Loch Lomond. From Balmaha the trail takes you  by the shores of Loch Lomond and into Ben Lomond National Memorial Park.

DAY 4 ROWARDENNAN TO INVERARNAN Distance: 22.5 km, Ascent: 222 m, Walking time: 6.5 hrs

Almost all of today’s walk sees you travelling along the eastern shores of the loch as it traverses through a mixture of woodlands; under the steep slopes of Ben Lomond. but you will be truly rewarded with spectacular and stunning scenery across the loch and into the high distant mountains. If luck is on your side today you may get a glimpse of the magnificent golden eagle.

DAY 5 INVERARNAN TO TYNDRUM Distance: 20.5 km, Ascent: 200 m, Walking time: 6 hrs

The last days walk takes you along by Loch Lomond, the base of Ben Glas Mountain, through Glen Folloch and onto Strath Fillan. As you walk along you will cross and re-crosses the river Folloch. As you pass the village of Crianlarich it is half-way to Fort William. Before you arrive you will pass the ruins of St. Fillan’s Priory.


After a hearty Scottish breakfast you can take the train back to Glasgow
